Gender Based Violence Awareness

Gender Based Violence Awareness

Approximately 45% of women in Kenya aged 15-49 have experienced physical or sexual violence.

Wake na Vijana Initiatives is dedicated to ending gender-based violence in Kenya and its effects through our awareness workshops and events.

These workshops educate participants on the various aspects of GBV, including its forms, perpetrators, and impacts. We identify those experiencing GBV and connect them to vital resources such as legal and psychosocial support. Additionally, we identify the most vulnerable women who are GBV survivors and facing poverty, enrolling them in our economic empowerment program. We also run GBV programs aimed at high school students to help shift attitudes around GBV and foster a culture of respect and safety.

Through targeted programs and initiatives, we seek to dismantle systemic barriers and promote equal opportunities, fostering a more inclusive and balanced society.
